Neighborhood Zuidas

Eline on Zuidas

A few years ago, I started working at Zuidas. At first, it mostly felt like a place where you arrive in the morning, work, and leave as quickly as possible at the end of the day. Glass towers, smooth asphalt, lots of suits. But the longer I walked around, the more I began to appreciate the neighborhood—not just as a workplace, but as an area with increasing atmosphere and variety.

Zuidas is evolving. Of course, it started as a business district, but more space is being created for living. The Valley is a beautiful example: a spectacular building with offices, residences, dining, and green spaces. It feels like a statement: Zuidas wants to be more than just work.

Favorite spots

Over the years, I discovered my favorite spots. For a quick lunch, I often went to Arie van de Raa or ’t Hakblok—small places where you can grab a really good sandwich. And if there was a reason to celebrate (or simply because it was Thursday), Dickys was the place for a drink in the sun.

Dining

Dining options are excellent here too. Nela for a slightly more upscale evening, Ferilli’s for Italian coziness, or just Loetje for a steak done right. Sometimes, when I wanted to escape the bustle, I walked toward Stadionkade. Along the water, it suddenly feels quiet—like stepping out of the city.

Zuidas keeps developing

New buildings, new residents, new energy. The latest addition is The Pulse: a combination of for-sale and rental apartments, a cinema, shops, and dining. I was able to watch its construction daily from my office—a spectacular sight!

It’s a neighborhood reinventing itself, which makes it worth working, living, or just visiting.
