Neighborhood Oosterparkbuurt
Remco on Oosterparkbuurt
One of my favorite neighborhoods in Amsterdam is undoubtedly the Oosterparkbuurt. This area, located in the heart of Amsterdam East (Oud-Oost), has everything for me: distinctive architecture, a relaxed vibe, cozy cafés, and of course the green and lively Oosterpark.
The architecture here is amazing: wavy facades, decorative brickwork, and countless artistic details. Every day, I’m still amazed while cycling through the neighborhood. The icing on the cake is the Tropenmuseum. Don’t forget to go inside; the interior is just as impressive as the exterior.

Lively city character
What I love about the Oosterparkbuurt is the relaxed and open atmosphere. It truly feels like a neighborhood where people care about each other and where different cultures and age groups come together harmoniously. You get the lively city character without the chaos of the center. It’s no wonder that many families, young couples, and expats want to live here.
Running around Oosterpark
Sports play a big role in my life. I like to exercise before work to keep my energy up for the day. I enjoy running a few laps around Oosterpark at sunrise. I also go to TrainMore Oost, which I consider the best gym in Amsterdam.

Oosterparkbuurt
Even after work and on weekends, I’m often in the Oosterparkbuurt. Around the park, there are many great terraces like Bar Bukowski, Louie Louie, and De Biertuin. At the latter, definitely go for a specialty beer and the chicken—you’ll be happy. Feeling fancy? BAUT Oost is a must: refined dining in a relaxed setting. I also often visit Café Maxwell at Beukenplein for their Monday pub quiz.
If you’re looking for a lively, green, and characterful neighborhood, the Oosterparkbuurt is absolutely worth considering!
